The most anticipated rafale deal is singed today by Indian and France authority. Franch Defense Minister Jean Yves Le Drian and Indian Counterpart has singed today the much awaited deal, of worth 710 million euros.
As per the agreement France will supply 36 rafle fighter jet to India in ready condition. Rafale is a multi-purpose medium fighter, procurement of which will help India adequately boost itself in a particular category where it is particularly weak. India has light fighters in the form of MiG21 and now Tejas. The contract for the deal was already cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Security earlier.
Rafle is a one class fifth generation fighter jet, which will give much needed strength to Indian AIr Force. As part of the Rafle deal, France has made 30 off set commitment for military aerospace research & development program and 20% off set commitment for making component for Rafle fighter with domestic firm in India.
The Rafale will be equipped with state-of-the-art missiles like ‘Meteor’ and ‘Scalp’ that will give IAF a capability that had been sorely missing in its arsenal.
