YouTube is testing to hide dislike count for some creators

Video publishing platform, Youtube has announced that its testing to remove the the count of dislike number to some creators.

Youtube said in its tweeter post that, there were complains of targeted dislike attack to some creators from competitors, so You tube is testing to remove dislike count visibility to public.

It also mention that creators will be able to see the number of like & dislike in creator studio but public won’t be able to see the dislike number of videos.

Here is what Youtube tweeted.

“In response to creator feedback around well-being and targeted dislike campaigns, we’re testing a few new designs that don’t show the public dislike count. If you’re part of this small experiment, you might spot one of these designs in the coming weeks, Creators, you’ll still be able to see the exact number of likes and dislikes in YouTube Studio. For viewers, if you’re in the experiment, you can still like or dislike a video to share feedback with creators and help tune the recommendations you see on YouTube.”

Instagram experimented with a similar kind of test when it decided to hide likes on posts. Obviously, likes are inherently positive, but chasing a high like count can have its own negative impact on creators whose livelihoods depend on closely monitoring interactions with their posts and appearing well-liked.
